About
Greg Jordan Photography is the website of Greg Jordan. Greg is a California-based photographer. His photos feature natural landscape photography, portraits, macro photography, street photography.
Wide Open is Greg Jordan’s photography blog that showcases some of Greg’s pictures and shares basic digital SLR concepts for beginner and intermediate photographers. The goal is to share information that beginner photographers can use right away to get more out of digital photography. While there are countless photography websites, few cover simple techniques while steering clear of too much geeky detail.
Wide Open is chocked full of unpretentious information about DSLR gear and techniques – all things that help people have more fun with photography. The DSLR lens reviews and information for beginner photographers are intended to be quick reads, without a lot of the in-depth technical jargon. Complex charts, graphs, and techie discussions for advanced photographers are kept to a minimum. Just the basics, and how and where to get the right stuff to make it all happen.
Thoughts On Photography
Once a digital image is captured it can be processed, much like the old dark room days of film. The photograph needs to be processed, not only to reveal the true colors and tones of the moment, but what the photographer saw and felt. The more I shoot the more I’m reminded that photography is opportunistic and timing is paramount. Fleeting moments captured in a picture are enjoyed by many for years to come. Photography then provides voyeurism into ephemeral moments – both personal and public. Pictures can be studied and interpreted well after the moment has passed. And like all art it can be interpreted in endless ways.
