The overwhelming majority of photos are taken from a lazy level, somewhere between a 5 and 6-foot vantage point: the hum drum level at which a camera is held whilst snapping a picture. Some of the most unique images are, therefore, those that are captured from varying and more extreme vantage points.
When photographing a subject, explore multiple levels and angles. Remember, a forced perspective will add interest. The resulting picture will cause the viewer’s brain to become more engaged and to study the image more intently.
Take many, many shots! Fill up the card! Strive for stunning! Get high! Get low!

Get High, Get Low

Good point! I have a close friend in Switzerland who often takes photos of family and friends when they gather at his house–but he most often takes the photos standing on a chair, holding his camera above his head, and taking the shot downwards. It creates a fresh perspective that always reminded me of what you see in magazine photo essays.
